Premier League Best XI: 29-30th Aug

Well what a weekend that was...unless you support Liverpool, Chelsea or Man United.

There were plenty of brilliant performances across the league this weekend but this round up will go through why these 11 players deserve to be in the team of the week.

Kicking of with the Goalkeeper. This week on Fantasy Premier League it was given to Tim Howard after he kept a clean sheet against Tottenham making crucial 1-on-1 saves against Harry Kane and Ryan Mason. Other Goalkeepers impressing this week were Hugo Lloris who was at the other end to Tim Howard and successfully kept out the toffees leading to a hard fought 0-0 draw. With more saves in the game it is Howard who gets the number 1 spot this week.

Man City are absolutely flying this year with no goals conceded in 4 games so it was inevitable that one of their defenders would wind up in the team of the week. This week it's Bacary Sagna who earned the right. The right back not only helped preserve Citys brilliant record but he also assisted Raheem Sterling for the first goal of the game and Sterlings first for the Sky Blues. It seems that City have a very settled back line this season and with Otamendi's involvement surely imminent they are going to be very hard to break down. At least one city defender is a must. In my opinion they will keep a lot of clean sheets and it isn't rare for the defence to chip in with some goals.

The shock of the weekend definitely came at Anfield where a Liverpool side still finding their feet were royally humbled by West Ham. Aaron Cresswell makes it in the side this week with a brilliant clean sheet and the first goal came from a cross from the Cresswell tucked home by Lanzini.

The two Centre-halves are Jonas Olsson and Gabriel who both played their part in clean sheets for West Brom and Arsenal respectively. Picking defenders would be tough this week because clubs who would have been expected to not concede did and those who you might have taken out pulled off brilliant results. To get many points from defenders this week would have been a challenge.

It was an unbelievable week for southampton forwards in this weeks best XI. Their 3-0 victory over Norwich was pretty easy for the saints in all honesty. The goals came through their likely heroes Graziano Pelle and Dusan Tadic. Pelle got the ball rolling and Tadic added two quick fire goals to put the game beyond doubt. Not to be forgotten Sadio Mane got in on the act with 2 assists making Southampton the most represented club this week and his 2 goals made Tadic the player of the week.

Two familiar faces in the team of the week have appeared again. Andre Ayew continued his amazing early form with another goal and this time getting an equaliser against Man United which provided the platform for a brilliant turnaround at the Liberty Stadium. Bakary Sako made his second appearance in two weeks thanks to his brilliantly taken winner on Saturday against a struggling Chelsea.

The last player is someone making his first appearance this season. After his midweek hat-trick in the Capital One Cup Scott Sinclair scored a brace in Aston Villa's 2-2 draw with Sunderland. The youngster has started to find the form that got him his move to Man City. Although that didn't work out for him he looks to be back at his best and could be a surprise package this season. He's certainly worth a look as a cheap option for when Villa are playing lesser sides.

The transfer window closes tomorrow and it's impossible to tell who is going to be going in and out therefore i wouldn't make any transfers until you know what your options are.

A midweek deadline day round up will be on in the coming days so make sure you keep up to date!!
