Norwich City v Leicester City Match Preview

Norwich entertain high flying Leicester at Carrow Road on Saturday in what promises to be an entertaining affair. Both sides are strong going forward but have shown weaknesses at the back on a number of occasions already this season.

The Canaries have scored eleven times in their opening seven games with Wes Hoolahan top of the league assists chart with five. However they have also conceded twelve and only three other Premier League clubs have shipped more goals. One of those teams is Leicester who have conceded fourteen but also have the best goal scoring record in the league with sixteen. England international Jamie Vardy has scored seven in his last eight and is looking to score in his fifth straight game this weekend. Neither side has kept a clean sheet in the league so far this season.

Both sides have speed and creativity going forward. Nathan Redmond has been a menace to opposition defences this season, supporting the flair of Wes Hoolahan and the industry of new signing Robbie Brady. Leicester have been driven by Riyad Mahrez who has combined excellently with Jamie Vardy so far this season.

Norwich go into the game on a three match unbeaten run but will have to quickly forget the disappointment of conceding to West Ham in the last minute on Sunday as they dropped two points in London. Leicester had been on a six match unbeaten run until their defence was destroyed by a rampant Arsenal side who put five past them on their home ground. However the Foxes haven't lost away from home in the league since March.

The teams have only met twice in the Premier League, back in the 1994/95 season when both sides claimed a win each. Leicester have only won one of the previous ten meetings between the sides in the Championship, although they did knock the Canaries out of the FA Cup in 2012.

The hosts will be without Youssouf Mulumbu and Gary Hooper, but Matt Jarvis returns after being ineligible against his parent club West Ham. Leicester's Nathan Dyer is lacking match fitness and will miss out but in-form Jamie Vardy should start despite having two broken bones in his wrist.

    Key Players:
Nathan Redmond- the flying winger has been a sensation going forward in recent times with six goals in his last eleven games, but he will have to work hard defensively to help his team cope with Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy.

Jamie Vardy- with seven goals in eight games, including five in his last four, and another England call up, the industrious Vardy will be full of confidence going into the visit to Carrow Road.

Chris Lincoln's prediction: Norwich 3-2 Leicester
Goals are almost guaranteed and both managers are setting out to win. Alex Neil said his side are 'confident and determined to get three points' whilst Claudio Ranieri explained he 'will be happy if we concede but score one more than Norwich'. Despite Leicester's excellent start to the season, I think the defeat to Arsenal could be the start of a slip in form as teams start to work them out.
