Tottenham Hotspur v Norwich City: Match Preview

Having come away from Old Trafford with maximum points at the weekend, Norwich City will be confident of claiming another major scalp in the Premier League when they face Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Boxing Day.
Following back-to-back draws with Chelsea and West Brom, Spurs suffered a crushing blow with the 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United. However, the club recovered impressively to record a 2-0 win over Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium at the weekend. As a result, Mauricio Pochettino’s side leapfrogged Manchester United on goal difference to climb into a Champions League position for the first time this season.

The festive period is a crucial time for the north Londoners as they eye a place in the elite competition. They are a formidable side at White Hart Lane, and have only suffered home defeat once during the 2015/2016 campaign.
Alex Neil’s side proved the doubters wrong with a sensational 2-1 win against Manchester United. It was a much needed win with pressure mounting after a four-game winless run. They now lie in 16th, just 2 points above the relegation zone.

The Canaries head into the Boxing Day clash full of confidence, but they will have to be at their absolute best if they are to leave N17 with something as they battle to retain their Premier League status. Norwich are not regarded as strong travelers, losing four of their last five, conceding 12 goals along the way.
    Facts And Figures

    - Tottenham have enjoyed the better of the 14 Premier League meetings between the  two sides, sealing seven wins. The Canaries have secured three wins, while four games have been draws.

    - The Premier League record at White Hart Lane is relatively even, with Spurs securing three victories, Norwich winning twice and two draws.

    - The north Londoners have only won one of the last six meetings between the two sides in all competitions. That win came the last time the two teams met at White Hart Lane in 2013.

    Team News
The Lilywhites will be without young midfielder Alex Pritchard and pacey attacker Clinton N’Jie, who have ankle and knee injuries respectably. A late decision will be made over the fitness of midfielder Ryan Mason (ankle) and full-back Danny Rose (illness).

The visitors are sweating over the fitness of on-loan full-back Andre Wisdom (hamstring) and winger Matthew Jarvis (knee). Alex Neil may decide to name the same side that defeated Manchester United last time out.
    Betting Odds (bet365)

    Tottenham: 2/5
    Draw: 15/4
    Norwich: 7/1

    Match Prediction
Tottenham have a habit of slipping-up at home against struggling teams, shown by the loss to Steve McClaren’s Newcastle United. However, they recovered well by winning at Southampton, and now they have broken into the top four, they will want to stay there and mix it up with the heavyweights of the division.

Spurs’ goal remains unchanged. Securing European football for the 2016/2017 season. The club from the capital will rightly head into the encounter as favorites, but should by no means underestimate the Norfolk based club. Mauricio Pochettino has all of his big guns available, and despite their famous win at Old Trafford, I don’t believe that the Canaries will spoil the occasion despite the Lilywhites most recent disappointment in N17.

Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Norwich City (12/1 with bet365)
