Demarai Gray is a coup for Leicester City

Demarai Gray after his move to high-flying Leicester.

Leicester were able to secure the services of the highly-rated Demarai Gray after the club met his £3.75 million release clause.

There is no doubt that Leicester have had an unbelievable start to the premier-league season. The foxes are only behind first-placed Arsenal on goal difference and with the arrival of sought-after Demarai Gray, the foxes could have an unforgettable premier- league finish in sight.

    Who is the new recruit?
The newest recruit began his playing career at Cadbury Athletic before moving to Birmingham City at the age of 10. He made his debut for the first-team in October of 2013 as a 17 year old, where he was introduced during the final few minutes against Milwall in a 4-0 Birmingham victory. During the same season, Demarai was awarded with the academy player of the season award, scoring just the solitary goal in the campaign. Gray is one who hopes to follow in the successful footsteps of previous players in the Birmingham set-up, including England international Jack Butland along with Norwich winger Nathan Redmond,  both have enjoyed good starts to this year's premier-league campaign.

So what will the former Birmingham City winger provide for Leicester?
To begin with, the 19 year old is blessed with rapid bursts of pace. This attribute is one which compliments Leicester's play further, with Riyad Mahrez also offering speed in abundance, Gray will provide the foxes with dangerous counter-attacking play which offers an alternative to what Mark Albrighton provides for the team. The lively England under 21's international, has already shown what he can provide to a counter-attacking system at Birmingham, where he played an integral role under Gary Rowett, scoring 6 goals in 43 appearances at just 18 years old.

In addition to his speed, Gray actually has very good defensive characteristics. In order for Gray to have played a successful and important role at counter-attacking Birmingham, he of course had to learn when to defend and indulge pressure along with countering teams on the break. Gray has demonstrated his maturity and tracks back regularly when the team is under pressure, furthermore his praiseworthy work-ethic will compliment Leicester's tireless attitude.

At just £3.75 million, Gray looks set to be a bargain. At 19 years old, he has already proved his desire, talent and eye for goal, including a clinical first-half hat-rick against Reading last campaign.
This is just a taste of what is yet to come from the winger, with the likes of Mahrez helping to develop Gray as a player, the young starlet could be a real hit in his premier-league debut season.

Claudio Ranieri will no doubt look to Gray for attacking emphasis, whether that be from the bench, or from the get-go, Gray will provide the foxes with a very good option and also have Leicester fans on the edge of their seats with his nimble footwork.
