Swansea City v Watford: Match Preview

    By Alex Easley
Ex-Udinese boss Francesco Guidolin will be in the stands to watch Swansea's game against Watford.
Former Udinese boss Francesco Guidolin will be in the stands as Swansea take on Watford at The Liberty Stadium on Monday night.

Guidolin is expected to take charge of Swansea alongside current head coach Alan Curtos on a deal until the end of this season.

Curtis, who was appointed caretaker manager after Gary Monk’s sacking in December, willhave Kyle Naughton available after his red card against Sunderland on Wednesday was rescinded.

The Swans caretaker boss said in the build-up: "The most important thing is that we get back on track.

"It would be great to win the game because it would be demoralising to lose three league games in a row.
Watford boss Quique Sancehz Flores and striker Odion Ighalo were named Premier League Managaer and Player for the month of December.
"They (Watford) have been on a fantastic run and it will be a tough game but we're at home and we'll make sure we do everything in our power to get that victory because we need the three points."

Watford meanwhile have lost their last three league games, but will welcome back Nathan Ake after his three-match ban for a red card against Tottenham at the end of December.

Head Quique Sanchez Flores said: "Except for the Southampton match, we are playing very well against amazing teams.

"We have played to a high level for a long time in this category so it is normal that just one time.

"So we are waiting for this match (on Monday). We are in the top half of the table before Saturday's games and we are very positive along with the players."

Naughton is available for the Swans, and interim boss Alan Curtis has a fully-fit squad to choose from as he attempts to win for only the second time as Swansea manager.

The return of Ake is a lift for Quique Sanchez Flores as defenders Tommie Hoban and Joel Ekstrand remain sidelined.

The Hornets boss could freshen up his side following the defeat at Southampton on Wednesday night, when Craig Cathcart, Ikechi Anya and Victor Ibarbo all came off the bench.

Watford won 1-0 when the teams met in September - securing their first Premier League victory of the season at the fifth attempt.

Swansea's last league defeat at home to Watford was in the top flight in February 1983 - the Hornets won 3-1.

    Swansea City

Swansea have only won one of their last 11 Premier League games (D3, L7).

They have conceded the opening goal 14 times in 21 matches this season; only Villa (16) have done so more often.

Since beating Manchester United at the end of August, the Swans have won just once at home in the Premier League.

They are 11 points worse off after 21 games this season (19) than they were in 2014-15.

Watford have only earned one point from four matches, having previously won four league games in a row.

They are looking to avoid their fourth successive Premier League defeat this weekend.

However, their defeat by Southampton on Wednesday was their first away from home in four matches (W2, D1).

The Hornets have conceded two goals in each of their last four games.
