Norwich City v Watford: Match Preview

    By Alex Easley
Watford beat Norwich 2-0 at Vicarage Road earlier in the season.
Norwich City go into their game with Watford at Carrow Road this evening knowing that a win may still not be enough to save them from relegation.

A draw or defeat for the Canaries, who are currently four points adrift from safety, will see them return to the Championship, as a win for Sunderland over Everton at the Stadium of Light would see them go down.

Despite Premier League safety, Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores’s future remains uncertain and his Norwich opponent Alex Neil’s future is also unclear and he even confirmed that he will assess his position at the end of the season.

The Canaries boss said: "I'll speak to the powers that be and the board but I don't think anything is ever off the table in football.

“At the end of the season I'll be judging how I've performed, how other people have performed and I'm pretty sure people will be judging me."
Quique Sanchez Flores says his team will go all out for the win at Norwich.
Flores, meanwhile, says his side will still play for the win with the Hornets in 13th place in the league table: "I don't like to play against Norwich and Sunderland because they are fighting against relegation and it's always very sad, but in this case we are the bad boy in the film. This is our role and we need to play it.

"For us it will be important to go to the pitch with the idea to play well, to think about how we can stop Norwich, to play football and to score goals. Our responsibility is to win and to choose the best team."

Norwich go into the game without Jonny Howson who came off against Manchester United with a knee injury and scans suggest he will be out for six to eight weeks. Defender Ryan Bennett has recovered from a bout of illness and is available.

Watford manager Flores will select from an unchanged squad for the trip to Norwich.

The Spaniard might make a couple of changes to his starting line-up, with defender Nathan Ake and midfielder Adlene Guedioura the most likely to come into the reckoning.

A rib injury to Valon Behrami is expected to keep him on the sidelines while Etienne Capoue continues to struggle with a knee injury.
Jonny Howson will miss the crucial clash with Watford due to a knee injury.

Watford have won on four of their last six league visits to Carrow Road, losing the other two.

Norwich managed just one shot on target in their 2-0 defeat by Watford back in December.

    Norwich City

Norwich have lost their last four league matches without scoring.

They haven't gone five Premier League games without a goal since January 1993.

The Canaries have won just one of their last eight Premier League matches at Carrow Road (D2, L5).

Watford have lost four of their last five away games in the Premier League.

Only eight different players have scored for the Hornets in the Premier League this season, fewer than at any other club.

Odion Ighalo has failed to score in his last 12 top-flight appearances.
