Norwich City v Watford: Win or relegation for the Canaries

    By Chris Lincoln

Norwich City's final home game of the season could be their last at Carrow Road in the Premier League for the foreseeable future, as anything but a victory against Watford would wrap up their relegation before the final day of the season on Sunday.

Even three points on Wednesday evening could still see the Canaries relegated if Sunderland can match their result against Everton. Such a conclusion would also doom Newcastle United to Championship football next season.

With the price of survival an estimated £100 million, Alex Neil will be hoping his side can make a better fist of the game than they did in a disappointing performance that saw them lose 1-0 to Manchester United on Saturday afternoon. Norwich barely threatened David De Gea's goal after Cameron Jerome cushioned a free header straight at the Spaniard after five minutes.

Norwich were left disappointed on Saturday

That result continues a string of four consecutive defeats for the Canaries, who have failed to score in each of those games. Though Watford have struggled for form themselves since the turn of the year, a run that leaves Quique Sanchez Flores' job in doubt for next season, despite securing the Hornets' safety and reaching an FA Cup semi-final.

Watford have an excellent record in Norwich, winning four of their last six league visits. The North London club also cruised to a 2-0 victory earlier in the season. The hosts can take hope from the fact they scored in 22 previous meetings with Watford prior to that game and are also unbeaten in eleven Premier League games against promoted clubs at Carrow Road.

If Norwich are to earn a victory they will have to do it without the injured quartet of Jonny Howson, Timm Klose, Alex Tettey and Andre Wisdom. Their visitors will be missing midfield duo Valon Behrami and Etienne Capoue.

Troy Deeney was on target last time out against Norwich

    Key Players:
Dieumerci Mbokani- playing possibly his final game at Carrow Road before his loan spell from Dynamo Kiev ends, Mbokani is Norwich's joint top scorer with a lowly five goals and will carry the weight of a whole city on his shoulders on Wednesday evening.

Troy Deeney- the Watford captain is one of the hardest working players in the league and has won more aerial duals than anyone else. He will test a shaky Norwich defence for the whole 90 minutes.

Chris Lincoln's Prediction: Norwich City 2-1 Watford
On their day Norwich are good enough to defeat Watford and may just be capable of taking their fate to the final game of the season if Everton can do them a favour against Sunderland.
