Steven Gerrard hints at Anfield return

    By Carl Halsall

Liverpool Football Club legend Steven Gerrard has said that he will more than likely return to Anfield in the future.

Gerrard, 35, left his boyhood club Liverpool in the summer of 2015, to join LA Galaxy in the Major League Soccer league, and he has stated that he enjoys being unnoticed in Los Angeles, but misses life on Merseyside.

In a recent question and answer session with LA Galaxy fans, Gerrard was vocal about coming back to Liverpool, but insists that he is not putting pressure on anyone, and does not want to make a big deal out of it.

"I don't want to start any unnecessary rumours," said Gerrard. "I'm really happy where I am at the moment."

"I miss my friends, and my family. I miss a bit of cold weather, I miss going to the games.

"I spent 35 years in Liverpool, Liverpool 's my home, and always will be. This is my second home for a short period of time."

Gerrard came off the bench, and scored during LA Galaxys recent MLS match, in a 4-2 victory over New England Revolution, where he said that his family were all enjoying their life in LA.

He said; "Obviously the city's a fantastic city for myself and my family, the climate, there's plenty to do. I'm pretty much unnoticed as well, which is a bonus."

Gerrard was invited by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, to come back and train with Liverpool in November 2015, during the MLS close season, in order to maintain his fitness levels.

Considering his age, his intention to come back and represent Liverpool, whom he was with for 17 seasons, is likely to be in a coaching or managerial capacity rather than as a player.

If he was to return in the near future, it is of course still unclear as to what sort of capacity it would be in.

Former Liverpool players such as the likes of; Steve McManaman, Robbie Fowler and Rob Jones do work with academy players from time to time, so this could be a potential avenue for Gerrard to look at to start with.

It would be fantastic for fans, and players of the club to see Gerrard in any capacity, as it is important to have a legacy in terms of making the most of ex-players, which is something Liverpool have not really done over the years.
