Liverpool Player Sent Home from Pre-Season Tour

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has left Liverpool's pre-season tour of the USA early which has brought speculation on the reasons why he has been sent home.

Many headlines this week have stated that he's been sent home for disciplinary reasons whilst on the tour, whilst some reports say that he is still continuing his rehabilitation from an Achilles injury. However Sakho was injured prior to going on tour with Liverpool which the club obviously knew about, so this maybe the reason for speculation about his behaviour, or that something else could of occurred.

It is not an ideal situation for Sakho who still wants to prove himself after being suspended by the club for testing positive to a 'Fat Burner' towards the end of last season.

He is a vastly becoming a fan favourite at Anfield, so one would think he is extra determined to get back into the first team as soon as possible, as he has become a key player in the team.

Sakho, 26, made a video during the Liverpool squads tour of Alcatraz in San Francisco which was published on Liverpool's official website, so there is no cause for bad behaviour here, and that this was all done in good nature. In the video, Sakho humorously interrupts manager Jurgen Klopp during an interview and asks him; "How long do you think you can live here?'' Klopp jokingly responded by saying; "I don't have to think about that - you should. Only one of us turned up late for departure from Liverpool. It was you." The manager refers to Sakho being late for the initial departure to the USA, however if you watch the video this is all said in good spirit.

Sakho was booked on to the same flight from San Francisco back to the UK on Tuesday night alongside Australian full-back, Brad Smith, who had permission to leave Liverpool’s base and have a medical at Bournemouth ahead of a £6million move.

Liverpool have yet to officially comment about the reasons for Sakho's departure from the tour, therefore there is no indication yet if something has happened whilst on the tour, or if he was been sent home to recover from an existing Achilles injury.

Liverpool play their first of three matches on Thursday 28 July against Chelsea at the Rose Bowl stadium in California, followed by a match against AC Milan on Sunday 31 July at the Levi's Stadium in California, and finally ending their pre-season tour against Roma on Tuesday 2 August at the Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri.
