    Is Southgate The One?

In the search of who is next in line as England Manager, Gareth Southgate has made quite a statement for himself after the 2-2 draw against Spain. Counting that as his audition to the part, we ask the question 'Can the ex-England's under-21 head coach be the perfect replacement for Sam Allardyce?'.

It may be said that the draw against Spain be seen as a disappointment but we must applaud Southgate for the excellent attack the England team maintained through out the majority of the game. Both Jamie Vardy and Adam Lallana put England in the lead, unfortunately it wasn't till Iago Aspas came in with a surprise attack in the 89th minute, followed by Isco goal during extra time that allowed Spain to finish with a draw.

When questioned if this would peak his interest for the role, Southgate graciously challenged it by saying:

"I don't think that's the way people should do their business.... I think it's right to speak privately about those matters. My whole focus has been on getting results for the team and the country and I am proud to have done that"

After stablizing the progress of the England team, I think it's safe to say that Southgate could be everyone's favourite; and with a humble reply such as that, he seems perfect for the job already. Let's hope this makes everyone forget about his unfortunate nickname given by John Gregory in the mid-nineties, aye Harry?
