Should Koeman look in Serie A during the January Transfer Window?

When Ronald Koeman jumped ship from Southampton to Everton in the Summer, Everton fans could be excused for expecting bigger things from the Dutchman's side this season.

However with Everton currently 3 points of the European spots having played a game more than everyone as well as being massively underwhelming in their performances this season. Is it time for Koeman to buy these 3 Serie A players in January?

Following this weeks 2-1 win against Arsenal, the answer surely would be a no. However, Everton fans are increasingly frustrated at the lack of attacking options seemingly being carried this season by Romelu Lukaku. This hasn't been helped further by a long term injury to £28million summer signing, Yannick Bolasie as well as a hangover from Euro 2016 for Ross Barkley whose loss of form has cost him his place in the England Squad. Nonetheless, expect Koeman to dip into the transfer market with Serie A being a potential goldmine.

    Éver Banega

Though Banega only arrived at Inter Milan in the summer, the Argentine has failed to establish himself at the San Siro with the Italian side apparently ready to offload him in January. Banega is currently a regular in the Argentinian squad winning 51 caps in the process as well as playing the full ninety minutes in both Sevilla's Europa League final triumphs within the last two seasons. Evertonians would also love that the second of those finals was against Merseyside rivals, Liverpool. With summer signing Idrissa Gueye failing to impress since his summer move to the Toffee's, Banega could well replace him in the middle of the park.

Koeman has apparently been scouting Banega for many months and at a quoted price of £8million - this could be a steal for Everton.

    Manolo Gabbiadini

With talks of Romelu Lukaku potentially leaving Goodison Park in January or even the summer transfer window, is it now time for Everton to try and find his replacement?
Gabbiandini is reportedly a target for West Ham and Stoke, but Evertonians in the Transfer Tavern feel that their side should make a move for the Napoli man in January. This would mean Everton would have to act fast as due to his versatility, Gabbiandin will be a wanted man. Though listed as a striker, Gabbiandini can also play as a winger which could come in handy following Yannick Bolasie's long term injury lay off.

This could be a bold move for Everton but could be rewarding as they could purchase a player that adds the last piece to their attacking jigsaw.

    Josip Iličić

Though relatively unknown in the UK, Josip Iličić is a well known name amongst Fiortentina and Serie A Fans. The Slovenian attacking midfielder has contributed thirteen goals and four assists for the Gigliati in Serie A this season and is a proven performer.

With Ross Barkley potentially on his way out of Goodison Park, Iličić could well be the replacement needed in the CAM role for the Toffees and his statistics do show that he is a more than capable replacement. Though his value to Fiorentina seem unknown, the increasing financial strength provided by Everton's owners could well be too much to resist and in the modern day market, the idea is to get in quality which is something possessed by Iličić and  this would be a mega deal for Everton which could well push them into European contention.
