Stoke City v Burnley Match Preview - Can Burnley turn their away form around at the Bet365 stadium..

Burnley travel to the Bet365 stadium looking for their first away win of the season but face a tough test against a revitalised Stoke City.

Burnley are coming off the back of consecutive defeats West Brom and Manchester City but even though the Clarets have been very impressive at Turf Moor, on their travels its been a totally different story with only 1 point gained out of a possible 15. Its more worrying that the difference in performances away from home have been considerably different to the performances at home.

Meanwhile Stoke have improved after a shaky start and have won four of the last six games and this was on evidence with last weeks confident performance away at Watford which culminated in a 1-0 victory which very easily could and should of been more. The Potters can move into the top 8 with a victory can continue their steady rise up the table.

When the last time these teams met at the Bet365 stadium it actually Burnley who came out on top with a 2-1 win in the 2014/15 season. A brace from from the now Liverpool striker Danny Ings was enough to hand the Claret's there first win of the season at the time but that did not stop Sean Dyche's men from Relegation.

Sean Dyche faces a stiff test to turn around Burnley's away form.

    Tactical Analysis

    Burnley

After going through their Championship winning campaign with a structured and organised 4-4-2, Sean Dyche has changed his formation to 4-5-1 which has meant Jeff Hendrick coming in for Andre Gray resulting in an equally organised formation but with better defensive stability in midfield. Unfortunately goals have dried up in recent weeks which could mean the Clarets reverting back to two up front.

Xherdan Shaqiri has been a major influence for Stoke this season.

    Stoke City

Stoke have used 4-2-3-1 for the last two seasons under Mark Hughes with great success and the Welshman sees no point in changing this with Shaqiri and Arnautovic the key creative players in this team but this season has seen this combination add Joe Allen to the front four and the ex Liverpool player has been immense in the number 10 role including a season high of four goals.

    Team News

    Burnley

Sean Dyche has numerous injury worries with Johan Berg Gudmundsson the only confirmed absentee with a hamstring injury. Meanwhile Tom Heaton and Dean Marney are 50/50 to make the trip to the Bet365 stadium with Scott Arfield and Paul Robinson expected to come into the side if there not fit enough.

Predicted Line Up : Robinson, Lowton, Keane, Mee, Ward, Boyd, Defour, Hendrick, Marney, Arfield, Vokes.

Tom Heaton is 50/50 to play against Stoke.

    Stoke City

Stoke will be boosted by the return of Joe Allen from suspension and is sure to walk straight back in to the starting 11 at the absence of Mame Diouf. Ryan Shawcross remains sidelined with a calf injury so Marc Muniesa will continue at centre half. Lee Grant will continue in goal as Jack Butland remains a couple of weeks away while he regains match fitness.

Predicted Line Up : Grant, Johnson, Muniesa, Martins Indi, Pieters, Adam, Imbula, Arnautovic, Allen, Shaqiri, Walters.

    Key Man to Watch

    Burnley - Sam Vokes

After a fantastic summer with Wales at Euro 2016, the forward has carried on his good form into the Premier League and has bagged 4 goals so far but its his hold up play which is his main asset as he brings others into the game. Vokes has also proved that he can play upfront on his own instead of playing with Andre Gray and Ashley Barnes and this has added to the options of Sean Dyche.

    Stoke - Xherdan Shaqiri

The Swiss International has been a major reason for Stoke's recent good form with the skillful attacking midfielder finally showing why he is highly thought of in the world of football. This was evident in his match winning display at Hull whilst also maintaining this form against Watford but the only issue with Shaqiri are his injuries with niggling injuries still occurring, If Stoke can keep him fit to the end of the season then the Potters can definitely think about challenging the European football.

    Kick Off : 3:00 (UK)
    Venue : Bet365 Stadium (Stoke)
