Ronaldo and Messi spearhead FIFPro World XI as ZERO Premier League players are selected

The long awaited FIFA FIFPro World XI has finally been announced.

The players who made the prestigious XI are:

    Goalkeeper: Manuel Neuer

    - German megastar Manuel Neuer makes an appearance for the fourth consecutive year. In 2016, the Bayern Munich goalkeeper won the Bundesliga title and has kept his reputation as the world's best stopper with a fantastic season at the Allianz.

Defenders -  Dani Alves, Gerard Pique, Sergio Ramos and Marcelo.

    - Juventus' right back Dani Alves has made the FIFPro World XI for the sixth time in his career. However, this may be his last appearance due to his thirty-fourth birthday fast approaching.

    - Spanish defender Gerard Pique has also been named as one of the world's best defenders. Arguably his largest achievement in 2016 was winning La Liga with his club.

    - Sergio Ramos has a well deserved place in the team after winning the Champions League and finishing second in La Liga. He features in this XI with Los Blancos teammates Marcelo, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Cristiano Ronaldo.

    - Brazilian full back Marcelo has been a regular in the World XI in recent years and completes a hat-trick of winning the prestigious award.

Midfielders - Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Andrés Iniesta.

    - Real Madrid's box-to-box midfielder Luka Modric is included for the second year running and this has been well deserved, with his club winning the Champions League and finishing as runners up in the 2015-16 La Liga season.

    - World Cup 2014 winner Toni Kroos makes his return in the FIFPro World XI with his second appearance.

    - The omnipresent Andrés Iniesta is included once more. Can he perform well enough in 2017 to gain a place next year?
    Comment below.

Attackers - Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and Cristiano Ronaldo

    - Despite Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr missing out, this is arguably the most high level attacking three we've ever seen in a FIFA World XI.

    - The inclusion of Luis Suárez may be a shock to many, due to Antoine Griezmann previously seen as the bookies favourite for the final forward position.

    - Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are part of the prestigious XI once more. This moves both players onto their tenth of their careers. Can they make it eleven next year? Comment below.

On the whole, this year's FIFA FIFPro XI has been a shock to many. What do you think?
