Liverpool V Chelsea- Liverpool's last Chance Title Saloon?

League leaders Chelsea visit Anfield at a time where their hosts have lost three of their last three home games and are in a desperate need of a win to keep their title hopes alive. Liverpool have only registered one win in 2017 a third round FA Cup replay against Plymouth. Jürgen Klopp's side have received a huge amount of criticism due to his side's lack of a" plan B" in premier league
games, it seems his side struggle when teams put ten players behind the ball or look to play on the counter-attack, Liverpool currently don't seem to have an answer to this tactic.

Doubts may be circling around Klopp at Anfield but there is no doubt that their poor defensive performances and the miss of Coutinho earlier in the month and Sadio Mane at the African cup of nations has affected their attacking rhythm. Liverpool boast the best record against their top six rivals this season, being unbeaten and collecting wins against Manchester City and Chelsea.

Sitting in fourth position and ten points behind Antonio Conte's men it will be a last chance saloon for the reds. So how do they beat a team that has only lost once in their last 15 league games? It is clear for all that Liverpool need to improve their defence. Klopp's defenders will need to be organised and physical if they are going to get a result. Chelsea's attacking threat of Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and Pedro are the ones Joel Matip and Dejan Lovern who will most likely be Liverpool's Centre- back pairing need to stop. Liverpool defence is their weakness but has shown at times against the big boys that they can keep clean sheets. Their last league win came against a rival top 6 team in Manchester City a 1-0 win on New years eve, limiting City's marksman Sergio Aguero to one touch in the box in ninety minutes. A solid defensive against top an opposition can be produced.

A positive for the reds will be that Chelsea may not come to Merseyside looking to sit deep and play on the counter-attack. Their attacking talents and confidence will make them play on the front foot and this can only be an advantage for Liverpool. This is where their pressing game can come into action the likes of Phillipe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Dirock Origi who will be primed to win the ball high up the pitch. A lot will be on riding how Chelsea set up on Tuesday night, they will not make the same mistake they made at White-Hart lane earlier in the month and not set the tempo of the match which saw them fall to two Dele Ali goals.

This is Liverpool last chance of silverware this season a defeat would mean it would be their worse run of form at home since 1923 and more importantly, it means they would be in a race for a top 4 place with the Manchester clubs instead of a title charge.
