Transfer News: Burnley, Leicester, Middlesbrough and Stoke secure deals

Leicester are set to sign defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi from Genk for a fee believed to be £15m, subject to a work permit.

Having passed a medical and agreed a five-and-a-half-year contract, Ndidi is expected to join up with fellow Nigerian international Ahmed Musa at the King Power Stadium.

Ndidi recently helped Belgian club Genk finish top of their Europa League group by scoring two goals.

The 20-year-old will be eligible to play in Leicester's Champions League knockout-tie against Sevilla in February.

Rudy Gestede will reunite with his former Blackburn Rovers strike partner Jordan Rhodes.

Middlesbrough have bolstered their attacking options by signing striker Rudy Gestede from Aston Villa for a fee reported to be in the region of £6m.

Gestede, who scored four goals in 19 games for Aston Villa this season, was unable to assert himself into new Villa manager Steve Bruce's plans.

Boro boss Aitor Karanka will be hoping that the Benin forward's aerial prowess can improve his side's goal tally, as Middlesbrough are currently the joint-lowest goal scorers in the Premier League with 17 goals, alongside Hull City.

Lee Grant had been on loan at Stoke from Derby since August 2016.

Stoke have secured the permanent signing of goalkeeper Lee Grant from Derby for a fee of £1.3m, having initially taken the shot stopper on loan last August.

Grant made his Premier League debut at age 33 for the Potters this season due to regular goalkeeper Jack Butland's injury woes.

Joey Barton helped Burnley gain promotion during the 2015/16 season.
Burnley have re-signed Joey Barton, who had been without a club since last September due to his contract being terminated by Scottish club Rangers after he was involved in a training ground altercation

Barton helped Burnley win the Championship title last season before moving to newly promoted Rangers on a free transfer in the summer.

The midfielder could play for the Clarets in their FA Cup match against Sunderland on Saturday, despite the 34-year-old facing the threat of a ban for betting.
