    Sutton United 0 - 2 Arsenal

Theo Walcott scored his 100th goal for Arsenal as the Gunners reached the FA Cup quarter-finals with victory over spirited Sutton United.

The non-league side, 17th in the National League had previously beaten football league sides AFC Wimbledon and Leeds in previous rounds to book the tie, and started positively, as they restricted their Premier League visitors to long range shots and balls into the box in what was an impressive opening 25 minutes on a defensive front.

The host's resistance was broken however, as a swift counter attack saw Lucas Perez given space on the wing, and his low hard cross evaded everyone, including Sutton keeper Ross Warner to give Arsenal the lead. It could have been two not long after when Nacho Monreal was played, but a poor first touch let him down and eventually to Mohamed Elneny blasting wildly over.

Sutton kept going, and missed a golden chance to level when David Opsina clumsily gave a clearance straight to Adam May, though under pressure he could only fire wide.

Alex Oxlade Chamberlian came on at the break and his pace was too hard for Sutton to handle, as he went on numerous runs down the wing and created half chances for the visitors.

It was left to Theo Walcott, the captain for the evening, to finish off a superb passing move for a simple tap in to clinch his century for Arsenal and give them breathing space. However, even a second goal did not kill the non-league side's spirits, and they came very close to pulling a goal back when Raorie Deacon's 25 yard strike cannoned off the bar and left Ospina in no mans land.

Sutton almost pulled a goal back again not long after, but the hosts captain Jamie Collins could only head over the bar, despite David Ospina being chaotic in his own area.

Alexis Sanchez had a cameo off the bench and almost scored a delightful chip, but Arsenal saw the game and booked a home quarter final tie with another non-league side, Lincoln City on March 11 or 12.

MAN OF THE MATCH - Roarie Deacon (Sutton United)

Despite being on the losing side, ex-Arsenal youth product Deacon was a threat against his old club, going on some mazy runs and putting some very good crosses into the box. His spectacular shot against the bar would been one for the FA Cup archives if it had gone in.
