    Man City 1 - 1 Liverpool

Man City and Liverpool played out a thrilling draw at the Etihad as both sides remain third and fourth respectively.

The first half was a defensive affair, with Ex-Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling having the best chance for the hosts, but somehow failed to tap in from David Silva's pullback with the goal at his mercy. That seemed to spurn Jurgen Klopp's side on, as they had three big chances to score trough Philipe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Joel Matip, although they were denied through a mix of stunning saves from Willy Caballero and a block from John Stones.

After half time Liverpool came out the with more intent, and won a penalty after Gael Clichy took out Roberto Firmino from behind. Former City midfielder James Milner stepped up to confidently dispatch and puts the visitors in front with his seventh spot kick from seven this season.

Liverpool almost doubled their lead soon after on the break, although Firmino was denied after good goalkeeping from Caballero. The hosts struggled to find a rhythm, as they gave the ball away reguarly but did find a way back as a superb low cross from Kevin De Bruyne was put in the back of the net by Sergio Aguero.

Both sides then wasted golden opportunities to potentially take the points, goalscorer Aguero went on a mazy dribble and look destined to tuck a shot into the bottom corner, but slipped at the crucial moment and following the pinball in Liverpool's area De Bruyne smashed the post.

Soon after a stunning quick passing move saw Firmino play the ball across to Adam Lallana, who looked set to tap the Reds back in front but awful contact on the ball, just about touching it and fluffing the finish.

It was a tense finish there after, with the lively Sergio Aguero wasting a big chance late on from David Silva's cross, but sent his volley into row z when it looked easier to score.

Ultimately both sides had to settle for the point, which means they are separated by a single point in the table and sit above Arsenal and Manchester United by a few points, though both those sides have two games in hand and could potentially move level or overtake City and Liverpool.

Both sides though will likely be content with the draw. Liverpool have now played all of their main top five rivals and are unbeaten against them all, meaning all of their remaining games are against mid table and bottom half sides. Pep Guardiola's side looked tired at points in the game and following their capitulation in Monaco on Wednesday, will be happy with response after going behind.

MAN OF THE MATCH - Emre Can (Liverpool)
