Martial shines as Manchester United beat Burnley

Martial celebrates giving United the lead. (
Anthony Martial scored one and assisted another as Manchester United cruised to victory at a sunny Turf Moor to extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League to 23 games.

United broke the deadlock in the 21st minute through Frenchman Martial, who confidently tucked Ander Herrera's low cross beyond the onrushing Heaton to complete a lightning counter attack.

Jose Mourinho's side added a second just before halftime through the retuning Wayne Rooney, who pounced on the rebound following Heaton's save from Martial to squeeze the ball just over the line from a tight angle.

Burnley never troubled David De Gea in the entire game as the home side failed to record a single shot on target as United dominated the game from start to finish. Much of the credit has to go to the United defence, especially Bailly who made several key challenges and blocks to keep out Burnley efforts.

Burnley will be looking nervously over their shoulder as they are only five points away from the relegation zone with four games remaining.

United move one point behind rivals Manchester City, who they face at the Etihad on Thursday evening in a crucial top 4 clash.

Manchester United Captain Wayne Rooney: "We knew this is a difficult place to come and win but we've played well and it's a good win. I was delighted to be back out there and it's always great to be on the scoresheet.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho: "I'm very happy. It's not easy to win here and it was a great result that we deserved.
